The new Mercedes-Benz minibusses were introduced on September 2, 2019. The first new trolleybuses, Skoda 26Tr Solaris, were publicly introduced on September 30, 2019. In November 2019, Kauno autobusai signed a contract for 100 new model units of MAN Lion's City 12 hybrid electric buses, which replaced over half of the city's old buses.

Kaunas public transport has a mobile application Ziogas (Grasshopper), which allows to purchase and activate digital tickets using a smartphone. After reaching the E-ticket card's monthly fee of €28.00, the remaining trips are free of charge until the end of the month.
